Silence Your Negative Thoughts
 

Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts. Proverbs 4:23 GNT
 

​1. What examples of manipulation or persuasion have you noticed in your own life or in society recently? How do these tactics affect our perception of reality?

2. Reflecting on the statement, "Negativity sells," why do you think negativity often garners more attention and engagement than positivity in media and social interactions?

3. How do negative thoughts impact our mental, emotional, and even physical well-being? Can you share a personal experience of how negative thoughts affected you?

4. According to Romans 8:5-6, what is the consequence of setting our minds on the things of the flesh versus setting our minds on the things of the Spirit? How can we practically apply this principle in our daily lives?

5. Philippians 4:8-9 instructs us to focus on things that are true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, excellent, and worthy of praise. How can we actively cultivate this mindset in the midst of a culture saturated with negativity?

6. Discuss the biblical examples of David, Paul, Peter, and Stephen mentioned in the sermon. How did they respond to adversity and negative circumstances? What can we learn from their examples?

7. Do you agree with the statement that being intentional about our mindset is one of the most important things we can do in life, second only to accepting salvation from Jesus Christ? Why or why not?

8. What practical steps can we take to silence negative thoughts and combat the influences that encourage them? How can we create healthy boundaries with media and other sources of negativity?

9. How can we support and encourage one another in maintaining a positive and faith-filled mindset, especially in challenging times? What role can Scripture memorization, prayer, worship, and fellowship play in this process?

Father, we’re ready to take control of our thoughts. It’s by Your power that we’re able to combat negativity. Fill our minds with Your goodness and truth. Thank You for giving us joy, peace, and hope. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
