Discussion Questions for Sermon Series Letters to the Church Part 8 - Unleashed

God’s Church started as a radical, spiritually intimate gathering of believers that ultimately changed history. Yet millions today are content to be mere observers at church.  But God is waking up His people—people who will risk anything and sacrifice everything to be the dynamic, world-changing Church of the Bible. In this series we are going to be asking, “What does God want for His Church?”

Ephesians 3:20 Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us.

  1. What is the biggest step of faith you have taken in your life?  What was your relationship with God like in that season?

  2. No matter where you are in your walk with God there is more of Him to discover.  What do you tend to hold on to closely to keep you safe? Maybe it is a relationship, money, job, location.  There are many things we use to make us feel safe other than God.

  3. Have you ever thought that those things could be barriers to experiencing God more?  How is it that even good things can become a hindrance to our relationship to God. The point is to hold things loosely and trust in God.  What would that look like and are you willing do to it?

  4. Read Ephesians 1:19-21.  Do you believe that because the Holy Spirit is in you, you have access to an “immeasurable greatness” of power?

  5. Have you ever stepped out in faith and regretted it?  Most of us probably have not regretted it, but we are still fearful each time.  How can we control the fear? How would this make a difference in our church?

  6. When was the last time you made a decision - one in which your failure or success depended on God coming through miraculously? What happened?

Remember what Jon said about using our gifts - “Using our gifts are/can be the greatest thrill in life.”
