These few verses seem to imply the direct opposite. That the man on the cross was saved despite not being baptized. The Bible is a very difficult book to understand and requires a lot of studying. Most often, there is not a hard set right and wrong answer to these difficult questions such as, “Does salvation require baptism?” Do you believe that there is an area that Christians can fall in, that is between these two extremes? What do you think that could be?

Why does Jesus get baptized?
-
So many topics are easy to feel like there is either one side or the other when more people should probably be aiming towards the middle. If Jesus got baptized simply “to fulfill all righteousness,” shouldn’t we respond in the same way, for the same reasons?

Tell the group of when you got baptized, and why you decided to get baptized. If you haven’t been baptized, take a moment to discuss why you haven’t. Remember that your group is a safe place to talk about whatever reasons for or against baptism.
