Discussion Questions for Easter Sunday

  1. What is your fondest Easter memory?
     

  2. Describe a time that it felt like you were running on empty?   How did you recharge?
     

  3. What do these claims of Jesus mean to you?
    John 1:29. John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world. John 11:25 “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live…”  John 14:9 “Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father.” 
     

  4. Could Jesus be dead, and still be all these things that were described about Him?  Explain
     

  5. Peter’s response is all inspiring, but those that turn their back on Jesus -  Who or what do they run to?  Why do you think they run?
    John 6:66-69 66 From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him. 67 “You do not want to leave too, do you?” Jesus asked the Twelve. 68 Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69 We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God.”
     

  6. On Sunday, Jon said, "The movement died when Jesus died because Jesus was the movement.”  Do you agree or disagree with that statement?  Why?
     

  7. Have you ever lost someone, and panicked?  Explain. How did you feel when your were reunited?
    John 20:1–2 While it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance. 2 So she came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and said, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don't know where they have put him!”
     

  8. What do you think Peter and John were thinking when they first reached the tomb?
    John 20:3–8So Peter and the other disciple started for the tomb. 4 Both were running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. 5 He bent over and looked in at the strips of linen lying there but did not go in. 6 Then Simon Peter came along behind him and went straight into the tomb. He saw the strips of linen lying there, 7 as well as the cloth that had been wrapped around Jesus’s head. 8 Finally the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went inside. He saw and believed. 
     

  9. John finally says, "He saw and believed.”  What do you think turned the light bulb on for him?
     

  10. What did you see or experience that led you to believe that Jesus was your Lord and Savior?
     

  11. What are some things we can do to help others in our lives see Jesus as their King and Savior?
